Ryan Forrestal — The AI Awareness Project

AI transformation fails for human reasons — not technical ones. I help organizations bridge the gap between powerful technology and the people who need to trust it, use it, and benefit from it. No jargon. No overselling. Just honest, experienced guidance that actually lands.

The Foundation

"The technology is rarely the problem.

The people are.

And people are exactly what I understand."

Why Most AI Adoption Fails

Most AI initiatives stall not because the tools don't work — they do. They stall because the humans in the room haven't been brought along. Fear, resistance, unclear ownership, cultural friction, and the very human tendency to protect what's familiar — these are the forces that kill transformation before it starts.

I built The AI Awareness Project on a single observation: the consultants who understand the technology often don't understand the people, and the people leaders often don't understand the technology. I live in both worlds. After 15+ years running business operations across industries and deep immersion in enterprise AI strategy, I speak both languages fluently.

My work is to close that gap — practically, honestly, and with a clear eye on what actually serves your business.

The Difference

An Honest Advisor
In a Noisy Market

What You Can Expect From Me
Honest assessment of what will and won't workNot every business needs the same AI solution. I'll tell you where AI genuinely helps — and where it doesn't.
Roadmaps your team can actually executeStrategy that lives in a slide deck helps no one. Everything I deliver is designed for real-world implementation.
Change management built in from day oneTechnology without adoption is waste. Every engagement includes the human side — resistance, training, communication, culture.
Governance and risk from the startSecurity, compliance, and responsible AI use are foundational — not optional extras bolted on at the end.
What I Will Never Do
Push trendy tools that don't fit your realityThe AI landscape is full of solutions looking for problems. I work from your problem backward — never from a product forward.
Recommend solutions requiring massive IT overhaulMost meaningful AI wins don't require infrastructure revolution. We start where you are and build from there.
Take vendor kickbacks or hidden feesMy only financial relationship is with you. No referral arrangements, no hidden incentives. Ever.
Claim AI will solve every problemIt won't. Any consultant who tells you otherwise is selling something. I'm here to tell you the truth.

In Practice

What This Work
Actually Looks Like

Case Study — Professional Services Firm

Turning Document-Heavy Workflows Into a Competitive Advantage Through Targeted AI Adoption

A mid-size professional services firm was losing significant billable hours each week to manual document review, client intake processing, and internal reporting. Leadership knew AI could help but had no framework for where to start — and a team deeply skeptical of technology change after a failed software rollout two years prior.

The Challenge

Beyond the workflow inefficiency, the real obstacle was cultural. The previous technology failure had created institutional resistance. Any new initiative would be judged through the lens of what had gone wrong before. Trust had to be rebuilt before tools could be introduced.

The Approach

Rather than leading with technology, we began with listening. Department by department, we mapped where time was actually going and where frustration lived. Three high-impact, low-disruption use cases emerged. We piloted the highest-confidence one first — deliberately small, deliberately visible — to create an early win the team could own.

The Outcome
60%
Reduction in document processing time within 60 days of pilot launch
High
Team adoption rate — skepticism converted through early wins and clear communication

I spent 15+ years in business operations leadership before the AI wave — long enough to understand how organizations actually work, where decisions really get made, and why good ideas so often die in implementation.

When AI began reshaping the business landscape, I immersed myself deeply — not as a technologist, but as an operator. I wanted to understand what was real and what was noise, and more importantly, how to translate genuine capability into practical business value for teams that don't speak the language of machine learning.

The AI Awareness Project exists because most organizations are navigating this shift without a trusted guide. Someone who won't oversell, won't push unnecessary complexity, and won't disappear after the strategy deck is delivered.

I'm that guide. And I bring something credentials alone can't teach — the ability to walk into a room of skeptical people and leave with their trust.
